Angelique Kidjo has just won Best World Music Album for her album titled “Celia” at the just concluded 62nd GRAMMY Awards. This marks her fourth win in the category and her fourth GRAMMY win overall.
Angelique Kidjo beat fellow nominees Altin Gün (Gece), Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley (What Heat), Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet (Fanm D’Ayiti) and Nigerian singer – Burnaboy with the “African Giant” album.
She however dedicated the award to Burnaboy and other new generation African singers who are currently striving to make African sounds get recognized globally.
